Little Winter Star
A pretty hanging decoration or Christmas bauble, quick to make with only four rounds. Needs knowledge of one or two specialised stitches but beginners will find plenty of help online.
You will need:
-
Scraps of leftover yarn (ideally cotton) in contrasting colours - two rounds will be dark and two light. Yarn with a metallic thread would work very well.
-
Crochet hook a little smaller than usual for your choice of yarn, e.g. 3.5 mm for DK.
-
Beads, sequins, etc. for decoration as desired.
-
Tapestry needle and scissors.
-
Suitable stuffing material for the solid version.
Use a single motif as an appliqué or part of a wall-hanging; sew two together back to back (but don’t stuff) to hang as a mobile ornament, or make a three-dimensional macaroon shape and decorate with shiny beads or sequins for some seasonal sparkle!
Heartfelt thanks to testers Berniece, Rosy and Reimy .
