Every year the San Diego North Coast Knitters Guild organizes a Summer and Winter retreat. We get together to just sit, knit, talk, rest and recharge. This year was a very unusal retreat. It was the year the Santa Ana Winds were so strong that the power company chose to shut down transmission lines. To remember this special ‘Lights Out’ condition and celebrate the special bonding while knitting in the cold with dim lantern lights, the group recommended the name for this Beanie – designed and knitted at that time, to be “Lights Out”.
