The filmy, translucent drape of silk chiffon fabric is emulated i the simplicity of knitted stockinette rectangles for this top i a lighter-than-air silk mohair yarn. The shoulder and side seams are abbreviated, leaving the upper corners free to fall in soft folds and the sides primarily open to encourage the interpretation of graceful undulation. Juxtaposed with the matte mohair is a narrow border of silk with sheen. Between the two garter-stitch ridges of border are Czech glass earl beads that catch the light. In our modern culture, this top will work casually over pencil-leg pants and a camisole, as well as dressy over a simple long sheath. The overall effect captures the elegant sparkle of the simple chiffon gowns seen in Downton Abbey.
