The completely seamless sock is worked in an interesting hybrid construction. The sock starts with a provisional cast-on for the back leg. A provisional cast-on has the advantage that you can work from the live stitches on both sides of the cast-on and do not have to pick up new stitches to work the leg later. The back leg is knitted in a striped pattern up to the heel. The heel is worked with flap and heel turn, using short rows. The striped sole is worked flat in back and forth rows to the toe, while the gusset is shaped with decreases. A selvedge stitch is worked on both sides of the back leg and the sole to join the two parts of the sock later. The toe is shaped with short rows and shadow wraps to create a neat and hole-free finish. The instep of the sock is now worked flat toe-up in rows. In each row, the last stitch of the instep/front leg is worked together with the corresponding selvedge stitch of the sole/back leg. In this way, the two parts of the sock are joined as you go. When all stitches of the two parts have been joined, the stitches on hold of the back leg are placed on the needle. The folded cuff is worked in the round from bottom up and finished with a piquot edge. The pattern is intended for mismatching socks. In this way, 3 mini skeins of sock yarn can be used (up to a foot length of 25 cm / 10”. Of course, you can also work 2 identical socks.
