I’ve always thought it was a shame that pink lemonade doesn’t actually come from pink lemons. But pink lemons do exist! They are a natural mutation, and were found on a Eureka lemon tree in the early 20th century in Southern California. The flesh can vary from lighter to darker pinks, so when I saw this sock set from Moonglow Yarn Co. I knew I had to make socks that had all shades of lemons on them!

I took the six colors of the fade and made three groups of two, and used those pairings to knit the leg. I used the same pairings on the foot, except I switched the motif and background colors. The neutral in the set was used for the cuffs, heels, and toes.

One of my favorite parts of these socks is that while each pairing makes a complete lemon slice down the front of the sock, on the sides of the sock it makes half a lemon, which then lines up perfectly with the next two colors used, and together they make a full slice. This feature wasn’t in my first iteration of the pattern, but I’m so glad I changed it to make it happen!
