Layon is worked in the round from the bottom up and features cable motifs and twisted ribbing. The crown decreases are hidden within the pattern. The interplay of textures and the short repeats make this a very addictive project.
You can knit it with a simple ribbed brim or with a folded brim.

Sizes
Finished circumference:
child to adult ;
(42, 47, 51) (55, 59, 63) cm/(16.5, 18.5, 20) (21.75, 23.25, 24.75) inches.

Choose a size slightly smaller than your head circumference, with 2 to 5 cm / 0.75 to 2 inches of negative ease.

Yarn  
DK to worsted weight yarn.

The sample was knitted holding two strands together:
• one strand of Sandnes Garn Tweed (80% wool, 20% cashmere; 175 m / 50 g), color 1085,
• and one strand of Lang Yarns Lace (58% Superkid Mohair, 42% Silk; 310 m / 25 g), color Sky no. 992.0021.

Layon has been worked by holding together two strands, a fingering yarn and a lace yarn. You can replace these two yarns with a single strand of sport to DK weight yarn that given you the right gauge.

Yardage
• approx. (175, 200, 250) (270, 330, 350) m/ (190, 220, 275) (295, 360, 385) yards of each yarn for the folded ribbing version.

Gauge 
• 26 sts x 28 rounds = 10x10 cm/ 4x4 inches over cable pattern in the round on larger needles, after blocking.

Needles
• 3.5 mm US 4 circular needles for the body and sleeves.
• 2.75 mm US 2 circular needles for ribbing.

Always use a needle size that gives you the right gauge, adjust if necessary.

Layon est tricoté du bas vers le haut en circulaire, il se compose de motifs de torsades et de côtes torses. Les diminutions de la couronne se dissimulent dans le motif. Le jeu de texture et les courtes répétitions en font un projet très addictif.
Vous pouvez le tricoter dans une version côtes simples ou en les repliant.

Tailles
• Tour de tête pour le bonnet terminé :
enfant à adulte ; (42, 47, 51) (55, 59, 63) cm.

Choisir une taille légèrement inférieure à votre tour de tête, 2 à 5 cm d’aisance négative.

Fil 
Nécessite un fil ou un mélange de fil de type DK à worsted.

Le modèle de présentation a été tricoté en tenant deux fils ensemble:
• un brin de Sandnes Garn Tweed (80% laine, 20% Cachemire, 175 m / 50 g); couleur : 1085.
• et un brin de Lace de Lang Yarn (58% Mohair (Superkid), 42% Soie; 310 m /25g); couleur : ciel n°992.0021)

Layon a été tricoté en tenant ensemble deux fils, un fil sport et un fil lace. Vous pouvez remplacer ces deux fils par un seul fil de type DK à worsted vous permettant d’obtenir l’échantillon recherché.

Métrage
environ (175, 200, 250) (270, 330, 350) m pour chacun des fils.

Échantillon 
26 mailles x 28 rangs avec le motif principal (cf. p3) pour un carré tricoté de 10 cm par 10 cm après blocage.

Matériel 
• Aiguille circulaire en 3,5 mm ou de la taille nécessaire pour obtenir le bon échantillon.
• Aiguille circulaire en 2,75 mm pour la bordure en côtes.

Utilisez toujours une taille d’aiguille qui vous permet d’obtenir le bon échantillon, au besoin, ajustez-la.
