From the pattern description: Even adults deserve a favorite blanket in which to cuddle and shut out the cares of the world! I am a firm believer that not all lace needs to be in tiny yarn on tiny needles. This beautiful and practical lace blanket is a perfect example of “moose lace”, i.e. lace knitted in a large gauge in heavier yarn. The lace makes this blanket lighter in weight for its size.

Construction overview: The blanket is made in one piece. First, the center rectangle is knit flat (i.e. worked back and forth in rows). Then stitches are picked up along the edges of the 4 sides of the rectangle, and the edging is knitted in-the-round.

The natural color blanket pictured is the original one made in handspun Cotswold wool for Interweave’s Save the Sheep awareness project in 1999 and won their contest.

The blue sample model is made in Elann Peruvian Highland Wool.

The multi-color sample model of Lacie Blankie is made in Judith, a 100% Prime Alpaca yarn from Schaefer Yarns. The colorway is Georgia O’Keeffe.
