Kulma
Finished Measurements: Height from CO edge to BO edge x circumference/diameter is approximately 10” x 35” (25 cm x 89 cm)
Yarn: 220 yds/201 m of aran or worsted weight yarn. Shown using Kismet Fiber Works Pamiri Worsted Weight (140 yds/450 m per 100g skein), 100% Goat - Cashgora. Color: Natural, 2 skeins.
As each Tajiki woman spins a different thickness, the Pamiri skeins are created by measuring 100 grams. Skeins can vary with more yardage making them more of a heavy DK through Aran weight. My skeins knit like a heavy worsted to light aran.
Needles: US#8/5.0 mm and US#9/32”/80 cm circular needle, or size needed to obtain gauge.
Gauge: 14 sts/21 rounds = 4”/10 cm, on larger needle, in pattern after blocking.
Notions: 1 stitch marker and a tapestry needle.
Charted and written instructions.
The pattern has been tech-edited and test-knit.
The Kulma Pass is a mountainous pass across the Pamir Mountains. I applaud Kismet Fiber Works for supporting Tajik women. Pamiri is a yarn with a story. Please take the time to read about it on the Kismet Fiber Works website.
