Knitting Shetland Shawl
This shawl is shown on page 24 of the book.
There are charts for the centre, edging and 2 charts for the borders that can be knit either ‘inwards’ or ‘outwards’ depending on your preference. There are also two options for the edging.
This shawl is taken from the postcard from the 1900’s showing an Edwardian knitter, thought to be Jessie Rattar of the Petrie family and wife of the famous photographer Jack Rattar.
The shawl can be knit ‘in the round’ using circular needles or with each side of the borders knitted separately and then sewn together at the end.
