King Tide
At the time that I was creating this shawl, Ucluelet’s
black rocky bluffs were being pounded by 31 ft/9.5m
waves, hurricane force winds and king tides. There was
a super blue blood moon, power outages and a 3:00 am
tsunami warning evacuation. The beauty and depth of
these blue hues paired with the dark and magical black
lace is a fitting homage to the wild power of the Pacific
coast in winter.
Two strands are held together throughout this project; it’s
perfect for melding an array of mini-skeins. Pre-order a kit
directly from the talented dyer, Polka Dot Sheep, that made
the sample yarns here. Free US shipping.
The inner edge of this crescent shaped shawl measures
67”/170cm, the outer edge is approximately
106”/269cm and at its deepest point, it’s 14¼”/36cm
wide. Size will vary with gauge, which isn’t critical.

swatching the desired colour gradation.
