Keys & Coins Andean-Style Hat
Use one solid yarn and one slowly self-changing yarn, and knit this Andean-inspired hat. Earflaps are optional but oh-so-warm.
Two-colored rows are easy, though!!! It does not matter if you use only one hand (whichever you prefer) or one yarn in each hand. I include a few tips on this in the pattern.
A Colorful , Warm Hat!
These hats take a cue from Andean “chullo” styles and motifs. The originals use many yarns and tiny stitches; these bow to tradition but use modern techniques, gauge and materials.
Choose a color-changing yarn and a contrasting solid color. Make ear flaps, or do not. Shorten for a beanie. Make your own style.
Construction: Bottom-up, in the round, with small optional I-cord nib at top. Optional flaps knit in an authentically-inspired method, sewn on after knitting. Knit fewer key motifs, without earflaps or nib, for a beanie style.
