Kahlua
Kahlua is a cozy cardigan featuring simple texture, rib, and cable detail in a gorgeous, squishy yarn. The kniting is easy, but it’s how the elements are paired that makes the design interesting.
The bold lines and texture are perfect to showcase the lovely halo and subtle heather of this gorgeous, cozy Hinterland Range yarn. Range is a wonderfully soft, round fiber with just a touch of drape to it, made from 50% Alpaca from Hinterland’s own farm and 50% Canadian Rambouillet wool, sourced up in Canada.
Transitions between garter stitch, reverse stockinette, and single ribs play off each other distinctly, and bold braids along each side of the body contrast with the textures happening around them. The sweater fronts are worked around the shoulders to create a beautiful, slouchy collar that results in horizontal lines that play off the vertical detail on the body. It’s all quite easy, but purposefully placed to work together.
A short length and boxy fit also keep this modern and fun, but it’s easy to modify for length or width if desired and notes are in the pattern.
Construction:
Kahlua is worked from the bottom up. Body is worked flat and sleeves are knit in the round. Pieces are joined at the yoke and shaped seamlessly to shoulders. Once body is complete, the fronts are continued and joined at center back to create the collar.
Sizes:
34.5(38.25,42.5,45.25)(48.5,51.5,55.25)“/87.5 (97.25,108,115)(123.25,131,140.25)cm
Measurements reflect circumference around bust, worn closed and are based on final fabric. For fit as shown, I suggest choosing the size that allows for about 4”/10cm positive ease, based on your actual bust.
Yardage by Size:
1000(1150,1250,1350)(1450,1600,1750)yds/ 915(1060,1145,1235)(1325,1465,1600)meters
Hinterland Range is a farm yarn, and therefore supply is limited.
