______
The inspiration for this five-piece collection designed by michiyo comes from the yarn itself—the world’s most inspiring and beautiful Meadows. Hikari or ‘light’ in Japanese is a perfect name for the collection as it represents the lightness of the yarn and the lovely fabric it creates.
The flared hem of this top reminded michiyo of a heat shimmer or, in Japanese, a Kagerou. This open-front vest pattern is worked from the bottom up. The fronts and back are worked together back and forth up to the armhole. The yokes are then worked separately. After completing the patterned hem, short rows are then worked to make the back longer than the front. The back, left front and right front of the upper body are worked separately on smaller needles in a rib pattern. Finally the shoulders are joined and the piece is finished by adding buttons and blocking gently.
