Juurilla Hat
Juurilla (At the roots) is a simple hat with twisted ribbing and beautiful cables.
SIZES: One size
FINISHED MEASUREMENTS:
Circumference: approx. 42 cm / 16.5”
Height: 29 cm / 11.5” (ribbing unfolded) and 21,5 cm / 8.5” (ribbing folded)
YARN:
West Yorkshire Spinners Illustrious DK (70 % wool and 30 % alpaca, 225 m / 246 yds per 100 g)
Shade: (203 Antique Gold) 1 ball
or
204 m / 223 yds of DK weight yarn.
NEEDLES:
3.5 mm / US 4 circular needle, 40 cm / 16”
3.5 mm / US 4 DPNs or circular needle,
80 cm / 32” if you’re using Magic Loop -technique
Adjust the needle size to get the correct gauge.
GAUGE:
29 sts x 36 rnds = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4” over 1x1 Twisted Rib St.
Width of one cable pattern repeat (9 sts) = Approx. 3 cm / 1.25”
NOTIONS:
Stitch markers and tapestry needle.
TECHNIQUES:
1 x 1 Twisted Rib St in the round: K1 tbl, P1, rep * - * until end of rnd.
METHOD:
The hat is worked from the bottom up starting with a brim worked in twisted ribbing. Once that’s done, you will work the cabled body by following cable charts.
