A confident trickster (some may say swindler?), Julen truly lives to put smiles on folks’ faces. He can always be found with his bag of shiny baubles, which mysteriously doesn’t seem to run out despite him being quite generous in trade. Never staying in one place long, Julen has seen most of the known world, and is always happy to give a tale in return for a hot meal. Will you invite him to join your travels for a while?

This 22 page crochet pattern in US terms is filled with colour photos (39) and instructions to make sure your fox turns out just right. Also included in the download are two printer-friendly versions, one black and white, and the other black and white without photos. Instructions include detailed colourwork, and his two accessories -- a traveller’s jacket and openable satchel. With a 2.75mm hook and DK weight yarn, he ends up roughly 23cm tall (depending on gauge) and is a perfect size for a desk companion or to fit in a child’s backpack (to join in all adventures!). I’ve made plenty of crochet creations over the years, and this fox is the one that has captured my 3yo’s attention the most -- she plays with him every day.

Key Details:
Size: Approximately 23cm tall when made with DK yarn and a 2.75 mm hook.
Yarn & Hook: Designed for DK weight yarn, but you can use another weight as long as it’s consistent. Gauge isn’t critical, but keep it tight. Example images use Classic 8PLY Wool from Bendigo Woollen Mills.
Skill Level: Intermediate. Small rounds, and plenty of colourwork! Everything is clearly labelled and photos are included to guide you through any complicated bits.
Full Colour PDF: 22 pages, written in US crochet terms
Printer Friendly PDF Versions: B&W option, as well as B&W with no images
Instructions Include: Accessories, instructions for semi-poseable limbs

Materials:
➔ Yarn - The pattern is made for DK weight yarn, but being Amigurumi, gauge isn’t super important (as long as it’s tight), and you can easily switch it out for a different weight. Just make sure all the yarn used is the same weight and it should still work. I’ve used Classic & Prism 8PLY Wool from Bendigo Woollen Mills for my fox.

➔ 2.75mm crochet hook to keep the stitches nice and tight. Depending on your yarn you may need to go up or down sizes to match.
➔ Stuffing
➔ Sewing pins to keep things in place as you stitch them together (not absolutely necessary, but can help keep things from sliding around)
➔ Stitch marker to keep track of rounds (I use an extra little piece of yarn)
➔ Yarn needle (or smaller if you prefer to attach pieces with thread)
➔ Scissors
