Joyful Socks are cheerful, quick worsted weight socks that were designed to cheer up and make the fall & winter season more joyful! They’re great for gift knitting, when you want to share the joy with others.

These would be the perfect gift for dreamers, cheerful friends or anyone who needs a little “pick me up” on colder and darker days!

Decorated with small, fun bobbles they’re a gift of joy that is quick to make (worsted weight yarn on 3,5 mm needles!) and keep your interest as the bobbles pop up here and there.

PATTERN DETAILS


  • All abbreviations used listed in a glossary section.
  • Written for magic loop technique, but can be worked on DPNs as well.
  • Skill level: easy, required techniques: working in the round, working flat, increases, decreases, short rows (not as scary as it sounds!), slipping stitches, picking up stitches, Kitchener stitch.
  • Construction: Worked cuff down, with a heel flap and gusset.

Sizes:

The pattern is written for three sizes 1 (2) 3 corresponding to sock circumferences: 17,5 (20) 22,5 cm / approx. 7 (8) 9 in. Choose a size that is 1-2,5 cm (0,5-1 in) smaller than your foot circumference (measured before the toes). Length is adjustable.

What materials & notions you’ll need:

yarn: 160 - 200 m (175 - 219 yds) of Aran / worsted weight yarn, sample worked in Novita 7 Brothers Nature (70% wool, 30% tencel lyocell)
needles: 3,5 mm (US 4) circular needles 80-100 cm (32-40 in), or to meet gauge
other: stitch marker, tapestry needle

If you plan to prolong the leg of the sock or knit a foot longer than 25 cm (10 in), please take into account it will increase yardage required.
