January Crochet Scarf
My friend’s birthday was looming and I wanted to make something for her, but with less than a week to go I had to be realistic. I found some lovely bulky yarn in my stash, a prefect colour for her. I then set about thinking what to make and doodled a little….out came not one but 2 designs! I swatched both and settled on one for this scarf.
The stitch pattern is open enough to look lacy but bulky enough to keep you nicely snug. It is easy to memorise (only 2 rows of pattern once you are set up) and using this bulky yarn is very quick to make. It is made in 2 halves, you start from the centre back and work one way then when you have done half the scarf you rejoin the yarn to the centre back and work the other end.
Rowan Cocoon is a lovely bulky yarn, very soft and made of merino and mohair. As made to the pattern the scarf measures 29cm (11.5”) wide by 180cm (71”) long when blocked. It uses 3 balls of Rowan Cocoon
The pattern makes up quickly and is easily adapted to any width or any length. Alternatively it can be adapted to any weight of yarn provided you use a suitable hook size.
The pattern is written in English and US crochet terms and is charted.
And, in case you are intrigued…..the second stitch pattern will be my February scarf!
