About The Isan Sock
The Isan Sock is a companion pattern to Amor Esperanza’s Ama Scarf. Both feature the same “pearl” pattern in their construction and give a nod to the Japanese Ama, an elite group of women free divers who fearlessly collect pearls at the bottom of the ocean. This centuries’ old practice is passed down from mother to daughter, much like knitting, so we named this sock Isan, which means “heritage“ in Japanese.

Sizing + Construction
This sock was designed and written from the cuff down, with an Eye of Partridge heel and rounded toe, using double pointed needles. This pattern includes Small(Large) sizing, which measures to 7.5”(9“) leg circumference. While the pattern is written for a short sock, you can choose to extend the length by repeating the 11-row repeat more than once.
