In My Element Shawl
Inspired by water and fire, mermaids and dragons, In My Element is a celebration of belonging-ness, of feeling at home in our own skin, and of the things and places that empower us. The pattern evokes mermaid tails and flowing water, or dragon scales and billowing smoke, depending on the colors used. Or switch up the colors and celebrate what makes you feel in your element - bright colorways would be striking, ombres or neutrals would be timelessly beautiful, a bright or deep color with a neutral would be a bold look, or even use two of the same color from opposite ends for an elegant look. You can find color suggestions and kits for both the wrap and the scarf here.
The pattern is appropriate for an intermediate knitter., or an ambitious advanced beginner. With alternating slipped stitch scales and beautiful (yet simple) undulating lace, this pattern has plenty of interest to keep it entertaining but enough repetition to keep it relaxing. The true magic is the simplest trick of all: the 2 Gradients are worked side by side using extremely basic intarsia, creating the incredible sense of movement in the project. And it is extremely basic - the trick to handling the color change is explained in the pattern, and no prior intarsia knowledge or experience is needed.
