Impromptu
Impromptu is a top-down, seamless cardigan with V-neck and pockets. Worked with a fingering weight yarn it can be the perfect cardigan on the chilly nights of the end of Summer.
The construction is very interesting: the sleeves and the body are worked in different colours but intarsia technique or seaming are not required.
We start the work with the sleeves: they are worked top-down from the triangle shaped shoulder parts to the cuffs.
After the sleeves are complete stitches are picked up along the sides of the shoulder parts. Upper back and fronts are worked separately, the raglan lines are shaped with short rows.
After the completion of the upper body back and fronts are joined and body is worked in one piece to the hem.
You can knit this cardi in one colour, or use a contrasting colour for the pocket linings, or – as shown in the sample – use your not perfectly matched skeins for the body and sleeves.
