As the second season of Outlander approached, Julia of Pandia’s Jewels and I felt that it was appropriate to collaborate again on a new Outlander inspired pattern. (In case you missed it, our first Outlander inspired collaboration was The Lady of Lallybroch Socks.)
The national flower of Scotland is the thistle. Since one of the main characters of Outlander is a certain 18th Century Scotsman, a Scottish thistle motif seemed like a perfect fit.
In this cosy cowl, a Scottish Thistle cable motif borders a Scottish Thistle lace panel.
So grab your yarn and your needles and Dinna Fash! Happy Knitting!

This cowl is knit flat.
A provisional cast-on and Kitchener stitch are used in this pattern.
The knitter needs to be comfortable with the following techniques: knit, purl, k2tog, ktbl, ptbl, yo, slipping stitches, psso, and cables. Instructions for all these techniques are included in the pattern.
This pattern includes instructions in both written and chart form.
I’d like to express my immense gratitude to the creators of Outlander for their entertaining work. This design would never have been possible without their inspiration.
Huge thanks to my amazing test knitters: Andrea (angeiship), Ann (roocmc), Ashleah (a1dawen), Cristy (cristyray), Natalie (ncdeanda), Susan (clucks), and Tracy (phoenixfire). ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
