Illusion Movement Socks
The pattern is inspired by movement created by nature, such as wind, waves, or hot air rising from the ground. Using a hand painted yarn as one of the colors adds another interesting striping effect. With an easy to memorize repeating pattern, these socks are fun and addictive to knit.
The socks are worked top down with a slipped stitch heel flap and gusset decrease. The colorwork pattern is mirrored on right and left sock to create the illusion effect. A striping detail is added to the sole to give a small challenge when working the gusset. There are no long floats thus no need to twist stitches on the wrong side, which also yields an easy pattern for knitters new to colorwork.
Instructions are given for Magic Loop or two circular needle technique but can be easily adjusted to DPNs by dividing stitches on each needle between two DPNs.
