Icefields Mat or Shawl
Any Yarn patterns offer you the chance to knit that item in any yarn, commercial or handspun. This means you can use yarn from your stash for pattern you like and you do not have to hit the tension given on the pattern.
This mat or shawl can be worked in any yarn, and is ideal for an unknown yardage of handspun, as the centre can be worked to any size before starting the border. The centre will take about three-quarters of your yarn and the border one quarter.
The piece is worked to and fro, and the seam is sewn using whip stitch when the knitting is complete. If preferred, the piece can be worked in the round: in this case the even numbered rounds will be PURL.
