Hypnotic is a simple overlay mosaic crochet design with a relatively small repeat, and only uses basic stitches, making it ideal for all experience levels.

The pattern includes a clear marked chart, and full written instructions.
As the design is not symmetrical, an additional chart is provided for lefthanders, to match the written instructions for you.

The pattern is written for a lap-blanket size (approximately 80 x 105 cm), but it also includes additional information to enable you to easily make a different size if you wish.

This design can also be used to make many other items, as you can see from my tester photos!
Zahra used the design to make a little book cover, and Cindy made a cushion.
Please note the pattern does not include specific instructions for making a book cover or cushion.

The pattern includes details of the yarn I used, but you can use any yarn you wish, just make sure that you use a hook size appropriate to your yarn.

I have included various suggestions for fringes, and also instructions for an optional simple envelope border to finish your project, although please note that the yarn requirements listed do not include yarn required to make the border.
You will need around 35m additional yarn for each round of the border, if you are making the stated size, in the stated yarn.

To simplify the abbreviations, and avoid the need for separate UK and US versions, the pattern is written in my ’Universal’ terms (I developed these terms for the Jacquard Temperature Blanket and have also used them in Flora’s Fauna and all my subsequent overlay mosaic crochet patterns).

If you want to find out more about my Universal terms, please see this short video https://youtu.be/IsubXOfEuVw
