Hustka shawl
This uniquely constructed shawl is shaped into a modern triangle.
The unusual rhythm of increases and decreases creates a distinct shape with a central dip, preventing bulky folds at the throat once you wrap it around your neck. It fi ts beautifully when draped over your shoulders or transformed into a cozy snood. Hustka shawl is fi nished with a clean edge along the wingspan, highlighting the graphic and voluminous beauty of the half fisherman rib.
You really love the look of the brioche rib, but struggle to knit it – HUSTKA shawl is for you! There is no brioche involved here whatsoever as this shawl is designed using half-fisherman’s rib, where you just knit, purl, and enjoy the process!
The shawl sample shown is made in Kid Classic by Rowan (Aran weight) yarn with US 5 (3.75 mm) - US 6 (4 mm) needles.
Depth: approximately 22” / 56 cm.
Wingspan: approximately 79” / 200 cm.
As this shawl is worked bottom up and shaped towards the wingspan, you can easily customize the sizing according to your personal preference, just make sure to have additional yarn on hand!
NEEDLES AND NOTIONS
This pattern can be easily adapted to your yarn and needle size. Just pick your favorite yarn and a suitable needle size for that yarn to go along with the stitch pattern.
GAUGE
For this gauge-free pattern, use the gauge you obtain with your chosen yarn and a suitable needle size (approximately two sizes smaller than the yarn manufacturer’s recommendation for stockinette stitch).
