The Housman set was inspired by both technique and whimsy: how can I create a design that slowly introduces new concepts, but also feels fresh and new? The result came from one of my favorite answers: turn things on their side! Both the cowl and mitts feature a join-as-you-go construction, creating super wearable shapes that will keep you interested from cast-on to bind-off.

NEEDLES & NOTIONS
US size 5 / 3.75 mm double pointed needles (dpns) or long circ for Magic Loop
US size 5 / 3.75 mm double pointed needles (dpns) for cuff
Always use a needle size that gives you the gauge listed, as every knitter’s gauge is unique.
Stitch markers, tapestry needle, stitch holder or waste yarn to hold thumb sts, waste yarn.

GAUGE
16 sts and 40 rnds = 4” / 10 cm in two-colour brioche in the round, after blocking
Note: the needle size on the mitts is smaller than the cowl but should give the same gauge, as the lace pattern in the cowl (and in the mitt cuffs) pulls in a bit more.
