The hooded popover is great for wriggly babies when sweater sleeves are too bulky under warm jackets, and it looks great knitted up in cotton for use as a beach cover up when the weather gets a bit breezy.

The baby basics are a set of easy to knit tops and accessories for babies and young children. 4 of the tops are “popovers” tops with buttons or i-cord ties in place of side seams and sleeves, think “fitted poncho” or “tabard”. These tops are easy over the head and make independent dressing so easy for busy little people.

All of these garments are suitable for beginners who have access to: the internet, an experienced knitter or a good knitting reference book.

All abbreviations are explained and the pattern has been test knitted and tech edited.
