HIPPOTIGRIS
A zebra’s striped pattern is a mesmerizing phenomenon. Did you know that zebras are actually black with white stripes, not the other way around?
The Hippotigris shawl takes short-row colorwork in a new direction, while still sticking to the same concept. It is a joy to see the stripes grow and become a beautiful pattern.
Please beware that there is a lot of counting in this shawl! The number of rows may seem daunting, but in all fairness, most of them are short-rows so they are quick and easy.
Count the total stitch number after each chart to make sure you start with the right number. One way to know something is wrong is if you get two wraps on the same stitch.
This parallellogram shawl is knit sideways with increases/decreases by the edges. Each chart has a different stitch count, but it all works out in the end as the short-rows balance each other.
If you are a visual knitter like me, the charts are available for download separately.
