Hillis Gate Mitts
A mitt inspired by the deep eaves and tall chimneys of Hillis Gate Lodge, the cottage in the forest where my grandparents lived.
SIZE
One size fits all - the stitch pattern is very stretchy. Approx 20cm (8in) in length.
YARN
Approx 150m (165yds) sport weight yarn
Note: If working a longer mitt you will require more yarn
NEEDLES & NOTIONS
A set of 2.5mm (US 1-2) DPNs or a 2.5mm (US 1-2) circular needle, 80cm (32in) in length (if using magic loop method)
2 stitch markers
Small amount of 4ply scrap yarn
TENSION
30 sts and 40 rows to 10cm x 10cm over 2.5mm needles in pattern
This pattern recommends a smaller needle size than the yarn usually calls for to produce a firm fabric.
