This pattern can be found in my 2016 book Double or Nothing: Reversible Knitting for the Adventurous.

An elegant adaptation of a traditional pattern into double-knitting, worked in a luxurious yak-down blend.

This fabric almost seems to be 4 layers thick -- without the corresponding lack of drape -- since the purl texture stands out so dramatically against the background of knits on both sides. Due to an ingenious use of slip-stitches to really emphasize the hexagonal lattice, the fabric is only linked together in one row out of five, which means that there’s very little actual color changing.

The finished and blocked piece is approximately 72” long by 7” wide and uses about 240 g of yarn or 120 g of each color. This means you just go a bit over into the second pair of skeins; if you’d rather, you can make the piece a bit shorter and save on yarn — but I don’t think you’ll regret having extra of this stuff.
