Hexagons
This sweater is designed to showcase hexagon motifs. I’ve commonly seen variations of diamond motifs in knitting, but when I came across these stitch patterns that generate clear hexagons, I was quite intrigued. The hexagons at the hems involve working eyelets on every row; the resulting increase in width allows the body hem to skim the hips without needing to adjust the needle size or stitch count. The main portions of the body and sleeves are worked in a highly flexible lace ribbing, giving a comfortable, relaxed fit while still looking sleek and elegant.
The sweater is worked flat, bottom-up, with set-in sleeves. The front, back, and sleeves are sewn, and the neckband is worked in the round by picking up stitches.
