Herringbone Vest
A classically styled men’s vest is dressed up with a sophisticated herringbone pattern. Vest is worked in one piece from the bottom up with an attached I-cord edging and zipper closure.
Finished Size 39½ (43, 46¾, 51, 54¾)“ chest circumference. Vest shown measures 39½”.
Yarn Brown Sheep Company Serendipity Tweed (60% cotton, 40% wool; 210 yd 192 m/3½ oz 100 g): #ST84 Nebraska wheat 4 (5, 5, 6, 6) skeins.
Needles Size 6 (4 mm): 24” and 16” circular (cir). Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge.
Notions Markers (m); cable needle (cn); tapestry needle; waste yarn; 24 (26, 26, 26, 28)“ separating zipper; sharp-point sewing needle and matching thread.
Gauge 22 sts and 29 rows = 4” in St st. 20 sts of Herringbone Cable patt measures 2¾ “ wide.
