Herringbone Ribbed Scarf
The beauty of this scarf is that you only see herringbone on both sides. This reversible scarf is built on the foundation of a rib. But you only see the knit stitches which are slightly misaligned to create the gorgeous fish-bone effect. The purls are hidden inside. It’s a thick but light scarf that is quick to knit and a joy to wear.
Once you learn the stitch and are comfortable with the technique, consider casting on more stitches than you would for a scarf and turn this stitch into a blanket!
Andean Dream is what the sample is knitted from but any heavy worsted yarn will work. Even a lighter chunky yarn would look nice in this pattern.
This gauge creates 20” of scarf that is 7.5” wide from each skein of Andean Dream (219 yards). For a longer scarf add more yarn.
