Haven Shawlette
Originally published for the Kitchen Sink Dyeworks Badass Women’s Yarn Club, September 2010.
Both one- and two-skein versions of Haven use the same construction technique. Numbers in parentheses indicate varied instructions for the two sizes, i.e.- one-skein (two-skein).
Shawl is knit from side-to-side, starting and ending at the narrowest points.
For two-skein version, it is easy to adjust for different yarn weights or individual knitting style.
finished size: approx. 72 (100)” wingspan, 17 (22)” deep at widest point, after wet-blocking.
yarn: approx. 400 (800) yds fingering weight yarn.
Shown in Kitchen Sink Dyeworks Luxe Merino Fine (superwash merino.cashmere/nylon; 390 yds/115g); 1 skein Valencia and Kitchen Sink Dyeworks Seacell Merino Fine (superwash merino/seacell; 390 yds/115g); 2 skeins Irie.
needles: size US 5 (3.5mm) 24” circular, or size needed to obtain gauge circular.
gauge: 20st and 40 rows in garter stitch, before blocking.
notions: 1 stitch marker, tapestry needle, blocking pins.
