Tweed and herringbone are the perfect combination. It was the yarn that really inspired these two designs. I fell in love the the House Of A La Mode House DK Tweed as soon as I laid eyes on it. I knew I had to design something stranded with it.
The cowl is a great pattern for an introduction to stranded knitting. The herringbone chart is easy to follow, and you don’t have to worry about managing long floats.
The speckle of the tweed softens the chevron pattern of the herringbone. The bigger the contrast, the more graphic your cowl and gauntlets will be. Make one or both. Two skeins of DK weight yarn is enough to make the set.
As for your circular method, a 24” long circular will work best for the cowl. For the gauntlets, choose the method that works best for you: DPN’s, magic loop, 2 circulars, or one 8” circular.
