Gusan | Blanket
One of the unspoken rules in travel, is that we start turning back once we have passed the halfway point. With this last pattern in The Travelling East Collection we reach our final destination. And what better destination for a series of tiles than a blanket? Here is Gusan, the ninth and last tile in this series. You can make the accompanying blanket design in any size and shape you like, and with the addition of the triangle pattern, you can orient your tiles in different ways as well. I designed a border which suits the style of all the tiles in this collection so you can use the border here or with any of the previous designs. And of course, if you own the collection, combining the different tiles in a blanket makes for great variation and a personal touch. Enjoy!
Gauge:
Gauge is not crucial for this pattern, as long as your tile lies flat. However, different yarns give different gauges:
DK weight: 8sc x 8 rows = 5cm / 2”.
Aran weight: 8sc x 7 rows = 5cm / 2”.
Hooks:
√ Depending on yarn choice, 4.5mm/G-7 or 5mm/H-8 crochet hook (Adapt hook to yarn used).
Notions
√ Tapestry needle.
Yarn:
A #3 lightweight (DK, 11wpi), or #4 medium (Aran, 8wpi) when working in 2 or 3 colours per tile:
- approx 20m/22yd (C1)
- approx 25m/27yd (C2; the contrasting colour when working in 2 colours)
- approx 20m/22yd (C3).
√ The blanket was worked in two colours and used DK weight yarn: DMC Revelation (C1, shade 204, 20% wool, 80% acrylic; 420g ca. 1460m/1600yds, 3 cakes), Pingouin, Pingouin 3.5 (C2, black, 50% wool, 50% acrylic, 450g, 1035m/1135yds, 9 balls).
√ The green and blue Aran weight sample pillow (worked as individual tiles in the round, see pattern tile) used Katia Planet in colours 3983 (C1), 3973 (C2) and 3966 (C3).
