I have admired the motif featured in this shawl for quite some time. When viewed from a short distance, it’s reminiscent of the Moorish filigree work that can be seen in southern Spain and in the city of Granada. I realized it would be very effective worked in two contrasting yarns in two contrasting colors. It’s lightweight, dramatic, and not really complicated to work up. If you choose different yarns, keep the center yarn somewhat dense and the outside yarn filmy so you don’t lose the stark effect.

Each motif measures 10” (25 cm) diagonally from corner to corner.
