Gradients A Deux is a rectangular-shaped shawl consisting of simple lace paired with garter and stockinette stitch. The shawl is worked from the center out, in-the-round until the specified stitch count is achieved. Each side of the shawl is then worked separately. A series of increases and decreases along the right-side rows result in a zigzag pattern which accents the beautiful gradients’ color progressions and produces an unusual edging on the ends.
The brown/teal shawl is knit in Miss Babs Gradient in Yummy 2-ply Toes in colors Espresso (brown) and Sea Teal (teal). The charcoal/pink shawl is knit in colors Ursa Major (charcoal) and Canis Major (pink).
Gauge:22 sts by 52 rows = 4 inches in garter st
Yarn:Shawl uses two gradient sets, 6 skeins per set, 133 yds/skein. This shawl also lends itself to using up scrap yarn. You can also be creative and make up your own “gradient(s)” by picking out 12 individual skeins of Miss Babs 2-ply Toes found here.
Size:Approximately 18” in width by 94” in length at longest point
A heartfelt “thank you!” to OrangeSmoothie for her gorgeous sample knit of the charcoal and pink shawl combination.
