Grackle Hat
This is a cozy ear flap hat with a simple design. It’s a great quick knit and an accessory you will reach for all winter long. You can easily bang this out in a weekend. Pattern includes step-by-step instructions with pictures for lining the hat.
Yarn:
Main Color: Bare Naked Wools Kent DK in color 002, Beach Glass.
75 yards/1 oz
Contrast Color: Kelbourne Woolens’ Scout in Charcoal Heather. Any DK weight contrast yarn will do.
30 yards/.5 oz
Gauge: 5 sts and 6.5 rows = 1 Inch/2.5cm on stockinette after blocking
Needles: Size US 6/4mm 12-23”/30-58cm circular needle, and your preferred needles for small circumference knitting. Size US 7/4.5mm 12-23”/30-58cm circular needle for color work (optional).
Note: Use the needle size needed to achieve gauge; going down 3 US sizes for the Ribbing needle.
Finished Sizes:
One size, adult medium, 22” in circumference.
Notions: stitch markers, row counter (both optional), 1/2 yard faux shearling fabric for lining, tapestry needle.
