Golden Triangles
The golden ratio (phi) is found throughout the manmade and natural world and produces aesthetically pleasing proportions. A golden rectangle is one in which the ratio of the long side to the short side is phi. This rectangle can then be subdivided into a square and a new golden rectangle. The dividing process can be repeated, producing a whorl of golden rectangles. But what would happen if you divided those squares on their diagonals? You’d get a set of gracefully spiraling triangles perfect for wrapping around your shoulders!
The larger size has six triangles and is shawl sized, while the smaller version has 5 triangles and is the perfect size to use as a scarf. The pattern starts with a very long cast on but don’t let that scare you away. Your care and patience during the cast on will be rewarded with a fun, easy knit ending with only a few stitches left to bind off!
