Gnist (mittens)
Mittens with a contemporary expression - knit in the traditional Selbu mitten method with a thumb gusset.
«Gnist» means «Spark», and the single contrast row adds a spark as it is seemingly «woven» in between the main stranded pattern.
The pattern gives instructions for both women´s and men´s sizes.
yarn: Rauma Finull/Pt2, 175m (191yd) / 50g
Women´s:
MC: col.404 / 50g
CC1: 488 / 50g
CC2: 4197 / less than 10g
Men´s:
MC: col.404 / 50g
CC1: col.4387 / 50g
CC2: col. 434 / less than 10g
needles: 2,5mm (US 11/2), DPNs or circular needle (magic-loop)
gauge: 32 sts / 40 rows = 10 cm (4inch) in stranded pattern
sizes:
women’s: circumf.: 20 cm (7 3/4″) / length: 27 cm (10 3/4″).
men’s: circumf.: 22 cm (8 3/4″) / length: 31 cm (12″)
notions: 2 stitch markers, stitch holder or waste yarn, tapestry needle
To alter the size;
size 2,25 mm (US 1) needles to make them smaller
size 2,75 mm (US 2) needles to make them larger.
The pattern includes written instructions and charts.
If you are not accustomed to stranded knitting from a chart - this pattern may be a challenge.
