Githa socks

The Githa Sock is worked in an elegant slip-stitch pattern that creates stripes of tiny textured dots in a contrasting color, running all the way down the leg. The sole is kept simple in striped stockinette for comfort. Designed with an easy shadow wrap heel that’s a joy to knit and gives a great fit. This pattern also lets you choose between a classic band toe or a star toe finish. We’ve knitted these timeless socks in our Önling No 18 — a soft yet durable blend of 75% non-superwash wool and 25% recycled PET from plastic bottles. The result is a pair of socks that are both wonderfully comfortable and long-lasting.

Gauge: 32 stitches x 47 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches on needle 2,5 mm / US 1.5

Procedure:

The sock is worked from the cuff down, down the heel and foot, and finished with either a band toe or a star toe. It is worked on a circular needle using the magic loop method, but can of course also be worked on double-pointed needles if you prefer.
The pattern on the leg alternates between stockinette stitch and slip-stitch pattern, and this textured stripe pattern continues along the top of the foot.
A sock with a shadow wrap heel is worked in the following order: ribbed cuff, leg, first and second halves of the heel (using twin and triple stitches), foot, and toe. The toe can be finished either as a band toe or a star toe, and both options are included in the pattern.
