This is a collection of 4 different patterns to create some fun and versatile gift knits. I have made these knits for family and friends this year and thought I would share them here.

The hat is a super chunky fishermans style hat in 3 sizes designed to fit adults from 53cm-57cm heads. It needs 2 balls of Rowan Big Wool to complete, due to its generous double fold ribbed rim. I made it in Yoke (mustard yellow), Candy ( A soft pink ) and Black. It’s super easy to make but looks stylish and feels warm and luxurious as it is knitted up on an 8mm needle giving it a dense feel.

Next is a cowl and cuff set made using Felted Tweed Aran and Felted tweed yarn held together and knitted up on a 6mm needle. It is a great way to style a coat, jacket, dress or shirt to look like you are wearing a chunky knit sweater without the added bulk.

Then there is a fun skinny bow tie scarf with a pretty crochet edge (also a knitted edge for those who do not crochet). This is a great way to use up some odds and ends of any worsted/aran weight yarn (I used Kid Classic) and a 5mm needle, but you can experiement with yarns, colours and weight.

Finally, an elegant corsage brooch made using Rowan Kidsilk Haze, again a great use for the end of a ball as only a small amount of yarn is required. I embellished mine with a few Swarovski crystal beads from my collection.

All knits are suitable for beginners who have managed to master casting on and off, knitting two stitches together, knit and purl and some very simple sewing. Anyone looking for last minute gifts to make, they are perfect as they only take a few hours to complete.
