Genus Araneus (Spider) Hat
For years I’ve adored the Spider cable pattern in Barbara Walker’s ‘Charted Knitting Designs’ A Third Treasury of Knitting Patterns (the yellow one). As Hallowe’en approaches, a hat seemed like an excellent application for it.
Sized for kids and adults; suitable for knitters with experience working in the round, and working cables from charts.
Optional two-colour ribbing adds a bit of fun, and is a good way to use up leftovers – it needs less than 30 yds of the CC. But it works just as well in a single colour!
(Note: this pattern is an update of my 2009 Spider Hat, with better sizing and an improved decrease. If you bought that, let me know and I’ll send you a copy of this.)
