Graceful arches form the foundation of this shawl, with eyelet tiers above and airy lace below. Worked sideways, the scalloped arches are shaped with double knitting. The lace edging and the body are also worked sideways & attached as you go.

The arches are worked first, in a combination of purl double knitting and a simple lace pattern. The shape of the arches is achieved by changing stitches from lace to double knitting and then back again.
The body is worked sideways from stitches picked up along the top of the arches. Short rows in the garter section shape the middle of the shawl. The lace edging is worked from stitches picked up along the bottom of each arch; you work across one arch before going on to the next.

Shawl is 70” wide and 19” long.
