Gansey Scarf
Inspired by the traditional Guernsey fishermen’s sweaters from the British Isles, this “gansey” scarf is a great project for the beginner knitter who is comfortable with knit-purl combinations. Simple geometric elements alternated with plain knitting create a striped effect. This scarf looks great in an earthy heather like the one shown here, but it’s versatile enough for almost any color. Use a light or mid- toned color like this to show off the textures.
