Pattern Notes: Legend of old tells of a creature of eldritch horror. Its gaze is all-seeing, all-knowing and pierces the very fabric of time. Once, it crawled from the primordial ooze to rain terror upon all who dare deny it. Primitive man worshipped it as a god and despaired at its wrath. Small children now worship it in effigy on alters in their bedroom. Its name has devolved; we have forgotten the power it once held. We must honor it once again. I don’t know what the heck I’m talking about. This hat is my weird little celebration of my 90’s childhood. Furby both terrified and mesmerized me. The cold dead eyes of a killer are what does it for me. It’s the face that inspired this design.
This design is worked from the bottom up. The ear band is worked from side to side with two layers worked at the same time. The top of the hat is worked by picking up stitches through the band. Typical decreases make up the crown. After the work is complete, you can choose to add the Furby-inspired detail (or other motif) in duplicate stitch or leave it off. It’s actually a pretty nice hat even without the motif. I-cord makes up the ties. Add a pompom if you’d like.
