FlipStitch Vest
The FlipStitch Vest is an easy to construct slip stitch vest that can be worn flipped right side up or upside down. Constructed in one piece, you’ll start with the border, then work the eight row mosaic slip stitch pattern in a sequence of knits, purls, and slipped stitches.
The background color shifts to deeper colors as you work, until the body length is achieved. Border edge stitches are picked up from one side to the opposite side and will be worked in broken rib stitch. No sleeves, no seams!
Flip. Stitch.
As the name implies, you can wear the vest in either direction….with the top at the bottom or flipped to the bottom at the top.
Worn with the arm holes in the lower position, the body will be shorter and the collar will drape at the neckline (as shown).
Once shifted, with the darkest color worn at the top, you’ll gain length with less collar drape at the front.
Gauge: 21 sts and 46 rows is = 4” in slip stitch pattern
TWO size US6 circular needles - one 24” or longer for the body and one 40” length for the border (or size needed for gauge)
