Fisherman's Weave Hat
Two simple textures combine in a cozy, insulating hat. Working Garter Stitch ridges into a Fisherman’s Rib body creates strong visual interest with no fuss. Clean lines, warm, washable yarn, and a good range of sizes make this a gender-inclusive winner; keep it ruggedly plain or add a fluffy pom-pom to soften the look.
Fisherman’s Rib is the often-overlooked cousin to Brioche—it’s simpler to work but creates the same dense, squishy structure. The hat is worked in the round from the bottom up. Yardage estimates are for the slouchy version and include enough yarn for a pom-pom.
This knitting pattern includes written directions and front, side and back images.

Substitution Notes
Choose a soft DK weight yarn that feels good against the skin; this is a superwash which is a great idea so it can be laundered easily. The original yarn works up at 5.5 sts per inch / 2.5 cm on 3.75 mm / US 5 needles in stocking stitch.
