This asymmetric shawl is inspired by the Fire Nation from the series, Avatar: The Last Airbender. The Fire Nation’s fire benders can control fire at will, and this shawl evokes that power and the dramatic potential of flames and lava through a stockinette body broken by contrasting eyelets, and a striking fiery lace edge with a picot bind off.

This shawl is suitable for adventurous beginner knitters seeking to master fire bending using stockinette, increases and decreases and try their hand at twisted stitches and lace.

The pattern is one size however you can vary the size by changing the gauge. For a smaller shawl work a tighter gauge, for a larger shawl work a looser gauge. Note that this will change the amount of yarn needed.
